Parking Information
  • Ample garage parking is available in the Danforth University Center (DUC) underground parking garage just west of the Edison Theatre. This garage is free after 5 p.m. Monday – Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday. Visit the WashU Parking Services website for prices, details, and directions.
  • Edison Theatre does not validate parking.
  • Limited handicap parking is available directly in front of the Edison Theater. Please consider dropping your patrons off before parking.
  • WashU shuttles and St. Louis Metro buses have a stop at the doors of the Edison Theatre. Please do not block their travel lanes.
Drop-Off Information
Group Drop-offs via Bus

The WashU Box Office will be in touch with your Group Coordinator the week of your visit to the Theatre with specific drop-off and pick-up instructions, complete with timeline and maps.

Passenger Drop-off

Dropping off passengers? Edison Theater has a designated drop-off zone directly in front of the building. Please do not block traffic and pull to the zone on the LEFT to safely let your passengers out of the vehicle.

Arriving by Metro Transit or WashU Shuttle
  • Metro Transit and WashU Shuttles (for WashU students, faculty, and staff only) both have stops at Edison Theater for their riders.
  • Audience members are also encouraged to take the Metrolink, which has two stations on WashU’s Danforth Campus. You can ride the Metrolink to Big Bend and Forest Park Parkway or Skinker and Forest Park Parkway.

Hearing Assistance Devices

The Edison Theatre is equipped with a hearing assist system. Devices are worn around the neck with an over-ear piece. Please see a member of Edison Management to obtain a hearing assist device.

ASL Interpreted Performances

Select performances at the Edison Theatre are ASL interpreted. Please contact the WashU Box Office for more information.

Accessible Seating

All seating rows are accessed by stairs. If you would like to reserve seating with no or limited stairs, please contact the WashU Box Office for arrangements.

Transport Chair

The Edison Theatre can provide a transport chair from the Drop Off Lane outside the Theatre to the Lobby or directly to your seats. Please contact the WashU Box Office or see a member of Edison Management at the Theatre if you would like to utilize this service.

Service Animals

Service Animals are welcome in the Edison Theater. Please contact the WashU Box Office if you will need additional accommodations.

Stairs and Elevators

All seating rows are accessed via stairs in the Edison Theatre. An elevator is available for access to the lower level restrooms and the Edison Theatre Balcony.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the bag policy?

Due to space constraints in our seating area, large bags, including backpacks, are not permitted in the theater. You will be asked to leave your large bags in the back of the theater with House Management during the duration of the performance. Small personal items are subject to search upon entry.

What temperature can I expect during the show?

The Edison is kept at 70*. Jackets are encouraged. Please, no blankets.

Can I bring my own food and beverage?

Outside food and beverages are not allowed in the theater. This includes items purchased from the Subway or bookstore located in the Theater Lobby. Sealed single-use water bottles are allowed.

Does my child need a ticket?

Your little ones do not need a ticket if they will be sitting on your lap during the performance. If they will be sitting in their own seat (or if you need extra room for a carrier or diaper bags), you will need to purchase an additional ticket for guaranteed space.

Is there a place for my stroller or wheelchair?

All seating rows are accessed by stairs. House management is happy to assist you in getting to your seat and storing your wheelchair or stroller in the back of the theater during the performance. If you or your guest would like to stay in their wheelchair or stroller, please contact the Box Office to reserve accessible seating on the entry level of the Theatre.

What if I’m running late?

Late seating is determined by Edison Management on a show-by-show basis based on a variety of factors. Upon arrival, you may be asked to wait outside the theater until a designated point is reached for the safety of our patrons, performers, and staff.

Please be respectful of House Management and your fellow patrons by arriving early.

How early can I arrive?

The Theater Lobby and WashU Box Office open 60 minutes before scheduled showtimes. Limited seating is available in the Lobby. Seating in the Theatre generally begins 30 minutes before scheduled showtimes.

Is there a lost and found?

Think you left an item behind? Lost and Found is located at the WashU Box Office. For high-value items (phones, keys, wallets, etc), you will be asked for identifying features to reclaim your items.

Can I take photos of the performance?

There is absolutely no photography permitted inside the theatre. Tripods are not allowed in seating rows or aisles. Please see a House Manager at the performance for more information.

Where are the restrooms?

Restrooms are located on the lower level of Mallinckrodt Center. You can access them via stairs or elevator.
