WashU provides vehicle storage during several breaks throughout the academic year.

Because vehicles cannot be left unattended on the Danforth Campus for any extended period of time during any given year (for more than 72 consecutive hours for commuters or for more than five consecutive days for campus residents), WashU provides a vehicle storage option for those traveling during winter and spring breaks.

If you want to store your vehicle over these extended breaks, please contact the Parking and Transportation Services team. The team will assign a storage location and provide a storage placard that must be displayed on the vehicle during the entire storage period. WashU does not offer vehicle storage during the summer months.

Free vehicle inspection service

Twice each year, before winter and spring breaks, the Washington University Police Department and Parking & Transportation Services, in partnership with Hartmann’s Towing, sponsor a free traveler’s vehicle inspection service to faculty, staff and students.

Hartmann’s Towing will check tire pressure, fluid levels, wipers, headlights and taillights. Local businesses donate oil and windshield washer fluid to allow us to top off vehicles’ fluids.

The WUPD Bear Patrol assists the police and parking staff in inspecting vehicles.

To learn more about the vehicle inspection service, contact WUPD at 314-935-5555 or visit their website.
